Is religion a thing to be sold at roads?

Religion in our country is very important. Although secularism is a big part of our country now. But now things have turned to a different way.
Our Hindu religion is the most worshiped religion in the country and Bhagvad Gita is the most auspicious book of all. We take complete care of Bhagvad Gita wrap it up in a cloth and don't touch with dirty hands and a hell lot of precautions.

But is BHAGVAD GITA a book to be sold on roads!

Iskon Temple People on the occasion of Janamshtami are selling Bhagvad Gita at Red lights. What a respect for a religion and religious books; that they are sold on roads.

Great going!!

Iskon Temples one of the largest complexes in India who worship lord Krishna. and on the occasion of there Lord only they need to sell the most respected book on roads (especially at the red lights at Bye pass). Really nice to see that our very own God is being sold at roads by the known lord worshipers only.

In our marketing terminology we call it a strategic marketing. A marketing with a new concept where these worshipers greet us very well saying 'Hare Rama' and introduce themselves and try to sell Bhagvad Gita on roads.

A good strategy indeed!

Rather we should say that Lord Krishna is facing really bad days that He is being sold on roads indirectly. it was right to sell these books at the temples and some shops but road is really not the right place to sell these religious books.

To earn money i think temples are fine than why on roads?
Is it right to sell the religious books on roads?

Rightly said, Niharika. Religion is more or less a commodity nowadays, which is being sold openly at the roadside. Well, to each his own. God is providing money to these people by allowing them to sell his name. That's why it is said that God provides for all his people, whether good or bad. It's just that some people fail to recognise this large heartedness of the good lord.

I believe the Hindu religion as it is, is a very flexible religion. From time immemorial we have been changing the face of our religion as per our convenience. We have shifted to English calender from our own Hindustani calender without even sweating, and not only that we have shifted our beliefs accordingly. Going to the temple on tuesdays, fasting on mondays are evidences of our blind faith. Selling a holy book on road side is nothing in comparison to the bigger questions hanging in the air. I am absolutely sure that they still wouldn't have sold a single copy standing on the road. I would say poor guys...
